Gay Marriage Reality Check

Recently it has come to my attention we're still fighting for gay rights in America. It's not that I forgot, it just sorta dropped off my radar. Anyway, I figured I'd just end the argument here.

If you are prepared to be against gay marriage, you should then be prepared to find a reason that does not include your religious beliefs or just because it makes you feel yucky, to be against it. Those reasons are childish. What I'm seeing on TV and LOL, Internet, is just ridiculous. To be ridiculed.

I'd like see the logic behind some of these anti-gay claims. Two men marry 1,000 miles away from you. How does that affect your life? Two men marry ten miles from you. Two miles. Next door? Well, sure, if you're into neighbors. So how does it affect you? It doesn't affect MY life, YOUR life, or anyone else not in their immediate family/friends circle. It can only bring happiness to these folks.

Am I bothered by gay people? Barely. I care more about when they act like it's the most racey, thrilling thing you can do to shock people. Gay parades are fine in theory and disgusting in practice. Some chums and I were innocently walking through a community event (not particularly for gay or straight people) and we literally turned a corner and were ambushed by the gay. Men kissing everywhere, women in bikini tops, (we were definitely enjoying the women through all this) (I don't know what happened to the butch lesbians but they seem to have relented) people yelling at us. Busses were making loud, scary noises and big floats with lights all over them were full of men and women in thongs dancing and yelling at us in nice ways. Though it sounds particularly fabulous for some, it definitely had that air of grungey, just, filthy people. Gay parades are the only thing I mind of gay people (among excess flamboyance) and I'm certain if we just give it 20-30 more years of acceptance, gay parades would slowly fade because being gay would just be like a sorta, "Oh, I didn't know you were gay." instead of "Okay, now it's time to come out and lose half my current friends."

Now, about the gay rights. We are supposedly more civilized than "ever before" now. So many people are becoming atheist now. I find it a bit troubling then to see that we're still struggling with human rights the same way we did 60 years ago for black people. Are gays not human? Should we build them a ghetto to live in? Gay people can work the same way straight people can, and some gay guys could probably make better salesmen than us regular straight guys.

And don't hand me that "I don't want gay in public" bullshit. If guys are going to make out in public, yeah, I personally would feel uncomfortable seeing two men kissing, but frankly, I've grown immune to it. It's like all the shock images, and porn; I'm so desensitized to peoples' pene (plural of penis) being ripped off/gutted/mutilated that it doesn't bother me anymore. If two gay guys are kissing, I'm not going to make stupid comments about them, but I will turn my head. (the other direction) Unless there's another couple there, in which case I'd have to ask myself how I'd entered a gay bar by mistake.

And this is for you too, lesbians!

Don't forget that lesbians are still gay. There should be no term "gay and lesbian". On that note, please, gay-straight-lesbian-transexual-bisexual-andeverythingbutAsexual alliance, could you please come up with a term for male gay guys? kthx.

Feeling faaaaaaaaaaaabulous,
